Jennifer Berrisford: Winter Sun in the Dales.

Acrylic Paint on Watercolour Paper.

I chose to use transparent colours of acrylic paint and to build up layers of colour over a base colour of indigo blue which then radiates throughout the painting. The hot-pressed watercolour paper has a velvety smooth surface, which can hold thinned acrylic paint and vibrant colours.

My art practice is influenced by the landscape around me. I like to inquire into human interaction with the terrain and how we can exist side by side.

Having lived in the Peak District for some years I love to go back and take inspiration from the topography and play of light and shadow.

My work currently is with oil. For this painting, acrylic and watercolour incorporating collage and found materials into the process.

I also teach cyanotype printing workshops in my local area of Northampton, which explore the synergy between natural forms and human intervention.
